Parth Patel, the nine-year-old boy honored on Wednesday by hundreds of law enforcement officers in Jersey City passed away on Saturday — Hudson TV has learned.
According to reports, Patel was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, the second most common cause of bone cancer in children.
Each year, about 225 children and teenagers in the United States are diagnosed with this type of cancer, making up one percent of all childhood cancers.
We are deeply saddened by Patel’s departure and offer our condolences to his family.
In an incredible show of support officers from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department, Jersey City Police Department, Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, FBI, Jersey City Fire Department, Port Authority Police Department and Jersey City Medical Center, along with local officials and community members honored Patel as a hero.
He was very thankful to all the people who came to give him their last good-byes.
